Why this list
GitHub search works when you already know what you are looking for. This list is for the other case: discovering real, production-grade apps — not tutorials, boilerplates, or package-only libraries — and understanding what each one is worth your time for.
Every entry is one human-curated Markdown file in content/records/,
kept fresh by weekly GitHub metadata syncs. To add an app, use the
submission form or open a pull
request — see CONTRIBUTING.md.

About this project
The list above is one view of the catalog. The same records also build openappscout.com — a searchable directory with per-app detail pages, curated collections, stack and category browsing, and contributor credits.
- Every app is one file:
content/records/<slug>.md, its fields as YAML frontmatter and its review notes underneath. The schema and field ownership rules are documented in docs/SCHEMA.md. - Automation-owned GitHub metadata lives apart from the records, in
data/cache/github/; scheduled jobs refresh it through reviewable pull requests. - The site is built with Grove on Astro and Tailwind CSS, and deploys as a static site to Cloudflare.
- The list section of this README is generated from the records with
grove readme generate— edit the records, not the list.
Add or update an app
The fastest path is the web form: it
fetches a public GitHub repository, asks a few questions and opens a pull
request with one file, content/records/<slug>.md. Add your GitHub username
and the app page credits you.
For a manual contribution:
- Create or edit
content/records/<slug>.md(see CONTRIBUTING.md for the format). - Run
pnpm exec grove checkandpnpm build. - Open a focused pull request.
Inclusion criteria — what belongs, what does not, and how entries are reviewed — are documented in CONTRIBUTING.md. All participants follow the Code of Conduct.
Development
Requires Node.js 22.12 or newer and pnpm (pinned in
package.json, available via corepack enable).
git clone https://github.com/tortuvshin/open-apps.git
cd open-apps
corepack enable
pnpm install --frozen-lockfile

Automation
GitHub Actions keeps the catalog fresh without silent changes:
- Every push and pull request — CI runs an icon drift check,
grove check, and a full site build. - Weekly — GitHub metadata sync, contributor sync, and README regeneration, each landing as a reviewable pull request.
- Monthly — a cleanup report flags stale records for curator review; nothing is removed automatically.
AI-readable catalog
The deployed site publishes
llms.txt, a compact guide to the
site, and llms-full.txt, the
expanded catalog for AI assistants and retrieval tools — generated from the
same records as everything else.
Project history
Open App Scout grew from
open-source-flutter-apps.
The original README-only collection is preserved in
README-LEGACY.md, while this project evolves it into a
structured, searchable, multi-stack directory.
Security
Report vulnerabilities and sensitive issues through the private process in SECURITY.md — never in a public issue.
License
The website code and catalog tooling are available under the MIT License. Provenance and licensing notes for the legacy dataset are included in the license file.
