Update Information

2026.10.31 v2.2.1 Hysteria2 traffic no longer uses the WARP outbound. Existing Hysteria2-specific WARP routes are cleaned up automatically, while Hysteria2 Realm remains available

2026.10.30 v2.2.0 Switch the WARP outbound from WireGuard (UDP) to MASQUE (H2/TCP 443, CONNECT-IP); legacy wireguard outbound configs are migrated to MASQUE automatically once the xray core is updated to 26.10.21 or later

2026.10.22 v2.1.9 Harden the argox -v upgrade flow: the cloudflared version is now checked only when Argo is installed and with a longer timeout; the old xray binary is backed up before the upgrade and restored automatically if the new version fails to start; the tunnel domain and node info are refreshed after upgrading a quick tunnel

Historical Updates(Click to expand or collapse)

2026.10.13 v2.1.8 1. Fix the firewall allow rules being appended after an existing REJECT/DROP rule on the INPUT chain, which left node and nginx ports unreachable on images such as Oracle OCI and OpenVZ; the rules are now inserted before the first REJECT/DROP rule https://github.com/fscarmen/sing-box/issues/353; 2. Fix occasional empty version detection when checking for xray updates, which could abort installation or upgrade; the version is now read from the lightweight releases.atom feed first, with the GitHub API as fallback https://github.com/fscarmen/sing-box/issues/355; 3. Enable readline line editing on interactive inputs: arrow keys move the cursor, Home / End and Ctrl+A / Ctrl+E jump to line start / end, Ctrl+W deletes the previous word, Ctrl+U clears to line start, Ctrl+K deletes to line end, Ctrl+Y undoes the last deletion, Ctrl+L clears the screen; editing keys are no longer inserted into the value https://github.com/fscarmen/sing-box/pull/357#issuecomment-6137941771; 4. Make the uninstall path fully offline: argox -u no longer runs CDN detection and no longer pre-downloads subscription templates, binaries or cloudflared, so it completes immediately on hosts that cannot reach GitHub https://github.com/fscarmen/sing-box/issues/358; 5. update GitHub proxy CDN endpoints https://github.com/fscarmen/sing-box/issues/359

2026.10.02 v2.1.7 1. Adapt to Xray 26.7.11 dropping VMess 'none'/'zero': vmess-ws links use cipher auto (Clash/Shadowrocket/v2rayN), Throne does not support auto and uses aes-128-gcm; 2. Auto-rewrite legacy none/zero in existing subscription files (remove after 2026-12-31); 3. Normalize Shadowrocket reality links (single-bracket IPv6, drop auto:/obfs=none, add udp=1 and fingerprint=Chrome140); 4. Adapt to Xray 26.9.8 where reality requires client fingerprints carrying X25519MLKEM768: remove minClientVer from realitySettings, enable support-x25519mlkem768 in clash reality-opts

2026.09.18 v2.1.6 Migrate WARP chained outbounds from proxySettings to streamSettings.sockopt.dialerProxy for Xray >= 26.9.8

2023.2.16 beta1 Argo + Xray for vps

Project Features:

In one line: one command deploys Xray on any Linux VPS — 12 protocols in free combination, Argo tunnel or direct, subscriptions auto-adapted to 5 major clients, full install in under 5 seconds.

1. Architecture & Security

  • Argo tunnel hides the origin: Xray inbounds listen only for the tunnel; no proxy port is open to the public internet and the origin IP never appears in the client config — this structurally defeats IP leaks and DDoS hits, and the tunnel spans all Cloudflare ports instead of clinging to 443;
  • Dual-PoP backhaul: unlike ordinary CF proxying over a single fixed path, Argo builds reverse links into two nearby data centers per connection, so both the client side and the backhaul stay on CF's own backbone, avoiding third-party cross-border congestion;
  • Single-layer TLS termination: the server only emits standard WS / XHTTP data streams; TLS is fully terminated by Cloudflare, avoiding stacked TLS layers and saving CPU plus handshake overhead;
  • No decoy site: no fake webpage burning memory and bandwidth — pure data forwarding;
  • No domain or certificate needed: just "preferred IP + tunnel". Temporary and fixed-domain tunnels (Token / cloudflared CLI / Cloudflare API) convert freely; switch anytime via argox -t;
  • Self-signed certs auto-managed: Hysteria2, Trojan Direct, and XHTTP HTTP/3 Direct run direct on self-signed certs, regenerated and fingerprint-synced automatically when the TLS domain changes.

2. Protocol Matrix (pick any N of 12)

Select on demand at install time; add or remove later with argox -r — ports and Nginx routing update automatically, no reinstall.

# Protocol Transport Security Egress
1 VLESS + Reality Vision TCP Reality Direct
2 Hysteria2 UDP Self-signed cert Direct (optional port hopping)
2 └ Realm mode UDP Self-signed cert Direct + public rendezvous server hole punching
3 VLESS + Reality gRPC gRPC Reality Direct
4 VLESS + WS WS Cloudflare Tunnel / preferred IP
5 VMess + WS WS Cloudflare Tunnel / preferred IP
6 Trojan + WS WS Cloudflare Tunnel / preferred IP
7 Shadowsocks + WS WS Cloudflare Tunnel / preferred IP
8 VLESS + XHTTP HTTP/1.1 CDN XHTTP Cloudflare Tunnel / preferred IP
9 VLESS + XHTTP HTTP/2 Reality XHTTP/H2 Reality Direct
10 VLESS + XHTTP HTTP/3 Direct XHTTP/H3 Self-signed cert Direct
11 Trojan Direct TCP Self-signed cert Direct
12 Shadowsocks 2022 Direct TCP/UDP Native protocol crypto Direct

Rows 4–8 go through the Argo tunnel / CDN: Xray binds to 127.0.0.1, Nginx dispatches by path, then cloudflared forwards — no origin port exposed. The rest are direct and can run simultaneously with tunneled protocols.

3. Fine-grained Control

  • Hysteria2 Realm mode: NAT hole punching through a public rendezvous server — purpose-built for NAT VPS, significantly improving UDP traversal performance; Realm and port hopping are mutually exclusive — pick one;
  • Hysteria2 port hopping: an optional feature independent of Realm; once a range is set the client hops automatically, evading port scanning and blocking, with matching firewall NAT rules pushed automatically;
  • Custom WARP outbound routing: domain suffix matching or geosite categories, steered to warp-IPv4 or warp-IPv6 outbounds; built-in WARP chained proxy unlocks ChatGPT in one click;
  • Bind egress NIC: on multi-homed servers, pick which interface (e.g. eth0 / eth1) Xray egresses through, adapting to complex topologies;
  • Custom client fingerprint: set the TLS client fingerprint (Chrome, Firefox, ...) for Reality / WS protocols to improve censorship resistance;
  • Independent port per protocol: argox -d can move the start port (sequential) or assign each protocol a non-consecutive port; changes sync to the Nginx reverse proxy and hot-reload automatically;
  • Domain as server address: when a NAT VPS public IP changes daily, enter a DDNS domain at install or via -d — no daily client redistribution;
  • Zero-downtime hot reload: an Xray API-driven reload path applies routing, outbound, and interface changes without dropping existing connections.

4. Subscriptions & Clients

  • One subscription URL for everything: node data is auto-adapted for V2rayN / Clash Meta / Shadowrocket / Throne / Sing-box (SFI, SFA, SFM), switching format per client on import;
  • Indexed subscriptions: the same domain serves per-client paths, plus a standalone proxy-provider subscription file.

5. Install & Operations

  • Three install paths: interactive menu, ultra-fast (-l / -k), and docker-compose-style parameter-file / long-argument non-interactive install for CI/CD fleets;
  • Dependencies on demand: nginx / cloudflared install only when WS, XHTTP, or subscriptions require them; jq and qrencode ship as binaries to minimize system packages;
  • Full post-install management: argox -t switch tunnel, -d change preferred IP / SNI / node info, -r add-remove protocols, -n show nodes and live traffic, -a / -x toggle Argo and Xray, -b upgrade core / BBR / DD, -v sync latest, -u full uninstall;
  • Live traffic stats: inbound / outbound up and down figures via the Xray stats API.
